Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect for my First Visit Individual Session?

During this initial visit, we will focus on getting to know you and understanding your unique concerns and goals. I also want to learn about hobbies, family and daily habits.  You can expect a confidential and supportive environment where you can freely express yourself. Feel free to ask questions during this session as well. My goal is to co-create a brave space. I am a firm believer the quality of our relationship significantly influence the success of your therapy goals.

Is Therapy Confidential?

As a standard practice, everything discussed in therapy sessions remains strictly confidential between you and your therapist. This confidentiality is protected by law, and your therapist cannot disclose any information without your explicit written consent.

However, there are legal and ethical exceptions to this rule. Your therapist may be required to breach confidentiality in the following situations:

  1.  If your therapist suspects abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or elder, as a mandated reporter, they must get social services involved.

  2.  If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, including threats of suicide or harm to others, your therapist may need to take actions to prevent harm.  While the therapist will attempt to work through this in the therapy session, if it appears to be unresolved or the client does not cooperate, additional action may need to be taken to ensure the safety of the client.

  3. Rare occasion of a court order.

Please rest assured that these exceptions are rare and your privacy is otherwise fully respected. If you have any concerns about confidentiality or specific questions, please feel free to discuss them with your therapist.

Can I Do Virtual Therapy?

Yes, Regine is licensed in the state of Georgia, she can only provide therapy services to individuals physically located within Georgia. Virtual therapy sessions are conducted similarly to in-person sessions. It's important to ensure your surroundings are secure and private, as Regine cannot guarantee confidentiality for your location.

If you live with others, Regine recommends finding a quiet space for your session, such as your bedroom or bathroom, or scheduling your appointment in your vehicle for added privacy. You will receive a secure link via email to access your session.

What Do I Do In-between Sessions?

Between therapy sessions, it's beneficial to keep the conversation and thoughts from your sessions actively in mind. Reflect on what was discussed and any insights gained.

Remember, therapy is a collaborative process. Regine may occasionally suggest specific homework assignments or exercises tailored to your needs and goals. These assignments are designed to reinforce the work done in therapy and promote ongoing growth and healing.

What to Expect for my First Couples/Relational Session?

Your first session is focused on understanding you and your partner's relationship dynamics. Initially, we'll spend time together to get acquainted and discuss your goals for therapy. Following this, each partner will have an individual session with Regine to explore attachment histories and personal perspectives on the relationship.

This approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a modality that emphasizes understanding attachment patterns and fostering emotional connection. These initial individual sessions provide valuable insights that guide our collaborative work towards strengthening your relationship.

How Often Should I Expect To Attend Therapy?

The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your individual needs, goals, and the recommendation of your therapist. Typically, therapy sessions are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly initially to establish momentum and continuity in addressing your concerns. Ultimately, the frequency of therapy sessions is a collaborative decision between you and your therapist, based on your specific circumstances and therapeutic goals. It's important to discuss your preferences and any concerns you have about session frequency with your therapist to ensure you receive the support that best meets your needs.

Can I Use My Insurance?

Regine is considered out-of-network for all insurance companies, which means she does not directly bill insurance. However, upon request, she will provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) linked to your insurance plan, you can use it to cover therapy costs. Regine accepts payments through Square, so if your HSA/FSA has a debit card that can be processed through Square, it can be used directly. Otherwise, you may need to file for reimbursement through your insurance provider.
